Becoming (Mi Historia)
Michelle Robinson was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 17, 1964. She studied sociology and African-American studies at Princeton University. After graduating from Harvard Law School in 1988, she joined the Chicago law firm Sidley & Austin, where she met her husband Barack Obama. After a few years, she would rather be working with people to serve their communities and their neighbors. She served as assistant commissioner of planning and development in Chicago's City Hall before becoming the founding executive director of the Chicago chapter of Public Allies. In 1996, she joined the University of Chicago as Associate Dean of Student Services. Her husband became President of the United States in 2009. In February 2010, she launched Let's Move!, a nationwide initiative to address the epidemic of childhood obesity by bringing healthier food into schools and communities, and encouraging children to be more active. Her first book, American Grown, was published in 2012. Her next book Becoming came out in 2018 and immediatley hit the bestseller list. (Bowker Author Biography)
